Our premium, ceremonial grade Matcha is made in Malawi which is known for its high-quality green tea.
In terms of perfect locations for growing tea, the mountains of Malawi’s Thyolo district are right up there with the Assam Valley, Darjeeling, Fujian and Kenya’s Rift Valley. Conditions in the region are ideal – the soil is nutrient-rich, sunlight is bright and there is enough rainfall to all but negate the need for irrigation. Thanks to these excellent conditions, teas grown high up in the mountains flush vigorously and develop exceedingly high antioxidant levels.

From the first sip, we knew we had made the right choice in selecting the leaf to produce this Matcha. On the nose, the infusion is bright with hints of grass. The following poem, attributed to an unknown Malawian poet sums it up nicely: Your rocks Protect the soil from eroding;

I switched to matcha from coffee. I happened on this one and I love it. Mixes easily with a spoon, in hot or cold liquid. Little to no sediment, but I use a frother just to be sure. I’ve put it in yogurt and smoothies, but I usually just have a cup hot, first thing in the morning, with just a little soy milk and it’s wonderful. Gives you that alertness without jitters or stomach upset- actually makes me calm drinking it.

Mixes into cold milk (the only way I’ve had it so far) so easily using just a spoon. Not too sweet. I personally add an extra teaspoon to my drink to make it stronger. If I had to compare it to a matcha latte I get out, It’s more like the one from Starbucks. Perfectly sweet and smooth. I will definitely be buying this again!
